Three Things to Know
Deceived is a new adaptation of Gaslight, the 1938 thriller by British playwright Patrick Hamilton that gave rise to the term “gaslighting.”
Adaptors Johnna Wright and Patty Jamieson reimagined the play through a modern lens — tightening the suspense and giving more agency to its characters.
The original Gaslight has been adapted multiple times for film, most famously in the 1944 version starring Ingrid Bergman, who won an Academy Award for her performance.
