Windows, a new play by New York Times bestselling author Tawni O’Dell, directed by Tony Award nominee Mitchell Maxwell and featuring an extraordinary company of Broadway and television stars, will be filmed in front of a live audience at the Temple of Music and Art.

Fear, hilarity, anger, loss, and love unfolding behind curtains, blinds, broken glass, and bars. Whether navigating the self-reflection of isolation, or the unease of a chance meeting between strangers in need, or the simple realization of how much we value our most basic connection with others, Windows delves into the devastation and new beginnings found in a world forced to face an abyss together but alone. What we each endured as individuals when time suddenly stood still may have differed, but we were all changed by the experience. Our characters reshaped. For better or worse.

Tawni O’Dell
Playwright

After nearly two decades at the forefront of critically acclaimed literary fiction, New York Times bestselling novelist TAWNI O’DELL has spread her writing wings to include film, podcasts, and live theatre. Her play, When It Happens to You, opened Off-Broadway in October 2019. Based on her personal experience, the theatrical memoir is about a mother’s struggle to help restore a sense of safety and wholeness to her family after her daughter was the victim of a brutal attack. Her 2023 comedy/drama, Pay The Writer, played New York’s Pershing Square Signature Center starring Ron Canada, Marcia Cross, and Bryan Batt. Focusing on the complicated relationship between a legendary literary agent and his best friend-turned-most-successful client, O’Dell’s socially intuitive play explored how an artist’s life is controlled by their calling and talent. Tawni is the bestselling author of six novels including her latest, the coal town thriller, Angels Burning. Her first novel, Back Roads, was an Oprah Winfrey Book Club selection and was made into a film with a screenplay adapted by O’Dell. She also wrote and co-produced the popular audio drama, Rewrites. Her novels have been published in over 40 countries, and her writing has appeared in anthologies, magazines, and newspapers throughout the world.

Mitchell Maxwell
Director

MITCHELL MAXWELL is a multiple Tony and Drama Desk Award nominee and Pulitzer Prize-winning Producer, Director, Author and Entrepreneur. His stage producing credits include the Tony-nominated Broadway revival of Damn Yankees, the Pulitzer Prize-winning Dinner With Friends by Donald Margulies, and the award-winning Oleanna by David Mamet. He is well known for the acclaimed novel Little Did I Know, subsequently developed as a Broadway musical and the first Broadway podcast to appear on Apple. Most recently, Maxwell has headed productions of three new plays, When It Happens To You, Pay the Writer, and Windows. Maxwell has produced over 50 stage productions in the US, on London’s West End, and on tours throughout the U.S. and the Far East. Maxwell has produced seven major motion pictures. He has worked in all mediums, including stage, screen, publishing, podcast production, and as a serial entrepreneur and investor. MMaxwell Media, LLC will adapt to the ever-growing assortment of platforms for our projects in various and expansive mediums. With this company, we will explore these different venues beginning with five projects.
