The Tony Nominations are in! 

It’s time to celebrate the power of theatre and the artists who make it happen. Often, shows seen on Broadway get their start on regional stages like Arizona Theatre Company. As one of 75 LORT Regional theatres in the country, ATC has a long history of developing world-class theatre in Arizona, and eventually transitioning works to the bright lights of Broadway. ATC presented Gershwins’ Fascinating Rhythm in 1999, and it debuted on Broadway in April of that year. In a co-production with San Jose Repertory Theatre, ATC in 2009 was among the first to present The Kite Runner on its stages; The Kite Runner debuted last summer on Broadway to rave reviews.  

Coming up, you can see the work of another Tony nominee – Matthew Lopez – in his heartwarming, hip-shaking play The Legend of Georgia McBride on our stages in June and July. Lopez is nominated this year for his play Some Like it Hot (Best Book of a Musical).  

Next season brings a stellar lineup of five shows that have been nominated for a Tony, have won Tony, or were created by Tony Award winning artists. Don’t miss Barefoot in the Park, Scrooge: The Musical, Intimate Apparel, Master Class, and True West.
