ATC Volunteer Ushers In the House
The Temple of Music and Art in Tucson was filled with laughter, friendship and joy on Saturday, September 4 as nearly 150 volunteers gathered for an orientation to prepare for ATC’s long-anticipated 54th Season.
A celebration as much as it was an orientation, the event brought together ushers from all 24 series’ to hear about the season, discuss the health and safety protocols for the theatre, and learn about ATC’s equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.
“Our volunteer ushers all work different shifts and in teams, so one group doesn’t often see the other groups in the course of their volunteer work,” said Bill Bethel, ATC House Manager. “It was a special sight to see so many volunteers all together at once.”
Managing Director Geri Wright shared about ATC’s off-stage hiatus and work around reimaging ATC and its future, while The Kasser Family Artistic Director Sean Daniels shared about the artistic work ATC has done over the past 18 months and gave a sneak peek of what’s in store on stage this season. Associate Artistic Director Chanel Bragg led a discussion about the work staff has done around equity, diversity, and inclusivity and how everyone involved with the company can work to be a welcoming place.
Special thanks to all the dedicated volunteers who can’t wait to welcome theatre-goers back! If you’re interested in volunteering with ATC, contact House Manager Bill Bethel.
